Frequently asked questions

What kinds of groups is it best for?

A wide range of groups of up to 13. In rough order: corporate retreats, milestone celebrations (significant birthdays, anniversaries, retirements), couples' wine weekends (3–4 couples), multigenerational family stays, weddings (party accommodation), and reunions. What they have in common is wanting the whole property to themselves and a walkable base where no one has to drive. See Group Packages & Events for detail by occasion.

What is Tanunda House?

It's an exclusive-use heritage house (1910 sandstone) in the centre of Tanunda, Barossa Valley. You rent the whole property and its acre of gardens — no other guests, no shared spaces. It sleeps 10–13 in five king bedrooms (four with ensuite, one without). See the Accommodation Guide for full detail.

How many people can stay, and what's the bedroom setup?

Ten comfortably (two per king bedroom), up to 13 with rollaway beds by arrangement. Four of the five bedrooms have private ensuites; the fifth uses a separate full bathroom. It works well for 3–4 couples plus a few extra guests.

Can the whole group really walk to wineries and restaurants?

Yes. Brothers At War is a 10-minute walk (800m) and Z Wine an 8-minute walk (600m); these are the only two wineries within comfortable walking distance of any Barossa accommodation. The Murray Street restaurants and cafés (Musque, Vino Lokal, Darlings, Hustle) are 2–5 minutes. The group can taste, dine, and walk home without a designated driver. See the Itineraries page for walkable day plans.

How do we visit wineries that aren't walkable?

Everything beyond the two walkable cellar doors is a 10–20 minute drive. Wine-tour operators (Barossa Cruisin, All Barossa Tours, Barossa and Beyond) pick up from the door, so no one has to drive. You can also hire bikes from Barossa Cycle Hub, one minute away.

Is the pool heated?

Yes, it's solar heated — warmest and most used in summer and spring, and cooler in winter. There's no lifeguard, so guests supervise their own group and children.

What does it cost and how do we book?

It's a premium whole-property rental priced per night for the entire house, not per person. Current rates, availability, and bookings are on the website, tanundahouse.com.
